Introduction

The word proposal comes from the word propose and refers to the plan for your research. You submit your proposal to the university, and if it is approved, you can start your thesis, which refers to a long piece of writing about a particular subject that you do as part of an advanced university degree such as an M.A., or a Ph.D.    Through writing a proposal, you should do the following

• You should show that you have found a suitable research question (statement of the problem).
• You should show that your research findings will be valuable to theory or practice (significance of the study).
• You should show that you are up-to-date in the field of research you have selected and you are familiar with the main theoretical viewpoints related to your topic (literature review).
• You should show that your questions can be researched and you know what methodology to use and how to analyze your data (methodology).
